Google’s upcoming Pixel 8a smartphone has been spotted in leaked images, despite the company’s silence on its launch plans. Expected to debut at Google I/O in May, the Pixel 8a has been showcased in blue and green colorways, rumored to be named Bay and Mint. Previous leaks suggest the 8a will feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from its predecessor’s 90Hz display.
Under the hood, the Pixel 8a is expected to be powered by the Tensor G3 chip, the same chip found in the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. It will reportedly have 5G connectivity and retain the same dual rear camera setup as its predecessor. The main camera will reportedly be a 64-megapixel sensor, while the ultra-wide angle camera will have a 13-megapixel resolution. Additionally, the Pixel 8a is rumored to support wireless charging and have an IP rating.
The recent leak of the Pixel 8a in Morocco suggests that the device may be closer to a global release than anticipated. Google has yet to officially announce the launch date, but it is expected to occur in the coming weeks. The Pixel 8a is likely to be a popular mid-range option when it eventually debuts, given its impressive features and Google’s reputation for offering excellent software support.
