Google Pixel Update Delays Frustrate T-Mobile and Verizon Users

Last week, Google launched an impressive June Pixel update. However, according to Droid Life, many Pixel device owners haven’t received the software update yet. As of June 18th, T-Mobile and Verizon customers are still waiting, and since Google Fi operates on T-Mobile’s network, their users are also in the queue.

Technically, Google isn’t behind schedule. They announced the update launch on June 11th, stating it would be rolled out in phases over the next week, depending on carrier and device. But this hasn’t sat well with some U.S. Reddit users who aren’t happy about the delay. One user commented, “Looks like another day…no update. Come on, Google,” while another questioned, “Why does carrier even matter? I previously used iPhone, everyone got the update on the same day.”

The concern is understandable, considering the June update brings exciting features, especially for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a users. They can now access Gemini Nano, Google’s efficient AI model for on-device tasks, previously only available on the Pixel 8 Pro. For Pixel 8 owners, the update also significantly enhances the Find My Device app, allowing users to locate their phones even when the battery is dead.

Additionally, the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro now support Display Port, enabling users to connect to larger displays like computer monitors via USB-C. The update also includes improvements to the native Recorder app, reverse number lookup, camera updates, and more.

While everyone will undoubtedly receive the update from Google eventually, the wait is frustrating for Verizon and T-Mobile customers. Hopefully, they’ll see the update soon.
