Google’s Circle to Search Now Identifies Songs: No More Missing Out on Great Tunes

Say goodbye to those frustrating moments when an amazing song ends before you can Shazam it! Google has just made music discovery a whole lot easier with the expansion of its Circle to Search feature.

Now, you can identify songs playing around you with just a few taps. Simply long-press the navigation bar or home button on your supported device, and a new music icon will appear next to the search bar. Tap that icon, and Circle to Search will attempt to identify the song, whether it’s playing on your device or through the speakers at your local coffee shop. And if the song has already ended? No problem! You can even hum the tune, and Circle to Search will still recognize it.

The feature was first spotted by a Reddit user who received it with the latest update to the Google app (version 15.32.37.28). If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure your app is up to date.

This Song Search feature joins a list of other handy tools included in Circle to Search. Earlier this year, Circle to Search added translation capabilities, allowing you to point your camera at foreign language text and get an instant translation.

While this new feature is similar to the Now Playing feature on Pixel devices, Circle to Search is available to all users with a compatible phone, making it even more accessible.

Remember, Google typically rolls out updates in phases, so if you don’t have access to Song Search yet, it should appear on your device soon.

With Circle to Search’s latest addition, those days of missing out on discovering new music are over. You’ll never have to wonder what that catchy tune from that Geico commercial was again.
