A chilling discovery unfolded on Friday morning in a housing society in Goregaon (West), Mumbai, where a couple was found dead. The victims, identified as Kishor Pednekar, a gym equipment salesman, and his wife Rajeshree, a physiotherapist, were found lifeless within the society premises.
Mumbai Police, investigating the incident, suspect a tragic case of murder-suicide. According to initial reports, Pednekar, 57 years old, allegedly took his own life by jumping from a building after fatally harming his wife. The watchman of a bank located on the ground floor of the G+4 building, Topiwala CHS, B-Wing, alerted the police control room about a man lying injured on the society’s grounds.
Police responded to the scene at 5:30 am in the Jawahar Nagar area. Pednekar was found lying on the road in front of Topiwala Mansion. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, medical professionals declared him dead on arrival.
In a subsequent development, authorities contacted Pednekar’s wife, Rajeshree, but their calls went unanswered. Her flat was found locked. However, the key to the flat was discovered in a locket worn by Pednekar. Upon gaining access to the flat, Rajeshree was found lying lifeless in the hall. She too was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Police investigations revealed that Rajeshree worked at a physiotherapy center in Malad Centre. Preliminary evidence points towards Pednekar allegedly strangling his wife to death in the early hours of Friday, possibly following an argument. After locking her inside the flat, he is believed to have jumped from the third floor of the building.
The couple’s son, who resides in Delhi, has been informed of the tragic events. An accidental death case has been registered at the Goregaon police station, and a comprehensive investigation is underway. The police are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death for both victims.
