In another targeted attack, unidentified gunmen shot dead Mohammad Razaq, a government employee, in Shadra Sharief area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, this evening. The incident occurred as Razaq exited a mosque. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Razaq, aged 40, was employed in the social welfare department. Security personnel responded promptly and launched a comprehensive cordon and search operation to apprehend the assailants.
This recent killing comes on the heels of two non-locals being shot dead in Anantnag and Herpora districts. Despite a decrease in the frequency of such attacks this year due to intensified anti-terrorism efforts, the latest incident has raised concerns as the Lok Sabha election campaign reaches its peak in Anantnag, which is scheduled to vote on May 7.
