The Mumbai crime branch is conducting a thorough investigation into the accidental shooting incident that injured Bollywood actor Govinda. This parallel inquiry comes on the heels of the local police’s ongoing investigation, which is examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. While the police have ruled out any foul play, they are yet to be fully convinced by Govinda’s explanation. According to reports, Govinda stated that his 20-year-old revolver misfired while he was cleaning it. He further explained that the revolver was unlocked at the time of the incident.
Despite Govinda’s explanation, the police are conducting a detailed investigation. The actor’s licensed revolver, manufactured by Webley, has been seized by the police for further analysis. No formal complaint has been filed regarding the incident.
The shooting took place on Tuesday at Govinda’s Mumbai residence as he was preparing to depart for Kolkata. The 60-year-old actor underwent surgery to remove a bullet that had lodged near his left knee. He is currently recovering at a private hospital. His wife, Sunita, reassured fans that Govinda is recovering well and will be discharged soon. She expressed gratitude for the prayers and well wishes he has received from fans.
Several celebrities, including Raveena Tandon, have visited Govinda to offer their support. Raveena shared that Govinda appeared to be in good spirits and was making a good recovery. Politician Kripa Shankar Singh also visited the actor and assured the media that Govinda is in good health and will be discharged shortly.
Following the incident, veteran actor and Trinamool Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha visited Govinda on Tuesday to express his concern and well wishes.
