Grace Kim Leads JM Eagle LA Championship after First Round

Grace Kim, the 23-year-old Australian, showcased her exceptional skills at the Wilshire Country Club on Thursday, shooting a remarkable 7-under 64 to seize the first-round lead in the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship. Kim’s flawless round was highlighted by a chip-in birdie on the par-3 18th hole, adding to her impressive performance.

Maja Stark of Sweden, Sei Young Kim of South Korea, and Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand followed closely with 65s, eager to challenge Kim’s lead. Stark recently finished second in The Chevron Championship, while Sei Young Kim boasts 12 LPGA Tour titles.

Defending champion Hannah Green and Amy Yang are among a group of players just a stroke behind at 67. Kim, who claimed her first LPGA Tour title in a playoff last year, remains focused on her strategy: avoiding overthinking and maintaining mental strength.

The tournament promises to be a captivating battle of skill and determination, with Kim leading the charge after a stellar opening round.
