Green CHP, a pioneer in renewable energy and data solutions, is making waves in the clean hydrogen sector with the launch of Jules Hydrogen™. This innovative system is poised to revolutionize how we produce clean hydrogen, paving the way for a more sustainable energy future.
Jules Hydrogen brings together a suite of cutting-edge technologies, including advanced power electronics, high-temperature thermal storage, Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT) panels, and state-of-the-art controls, into a single cohesive system. This integrated approach optimizes various electrolyzer technologies, leading to unparalleled scalability and efficiency, and ultimately driving down the cost of hydrogen production.
Green CHP’s strategic partnership with Dynapower, a global leader in power conversion technology, is a key component of this groundbreaking solution. Dynapower’s expertise in IGBT-based buck rectifiers, SCR/thyristor rectifiers, back-to-back DC/DC converters, and voltage source inverter-based systems provides Jules Hydrogen with the flexibility needed to adapt to diverse production environments, including centralized plants and direct renewable-resource connections.
Traditional hydrogen production methods, like steam methane reforming (SMR), heavily rely on fossil fuels, leading to significant carbon emissions. Jules Hydrogen tackles this issue head-on with its proprietary Thermal Hydrogen Synthesis (THS) process. This innovative approach integrates thermal and electrical energy, enhancing hydrogen production efficiency by up to 20% and supporting existing electrolyzer technologies, such as PEM, alkaline, and SOEC.
Furthermore, Jules Hydrogen utilizes hybrid PVT panels, which harness up to four times more energy per acre than traditional solar panels. This maximizes energy yield while reducing energy losses and minimizing electrolysis demand, all within a low-cost, zero-GHG framework.
“Hydrogen holds immense promise as a clean energy source, but traditional production methods remain carbon-intensive,” stated Terry Bickham, Chief Engineer at Green CHP. “Jules Hydrogen addresses this challenge by optimizing the entire value chain, reducing hydrogen production costs, and minimizing fossil fuel dependence. We’re making the vision of clean hydrogen energy a reality.”
The impact of Jules Hydrogen is significant. For a 100 MW hydrogen production plant, the system and its THS process could generate an additional $12.3 million in annual revenue, assuming a market hydrogen price of $5 per kilogram. This enhanced efficiency also leads to an annual reduction of approximately 23,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions, based on an offset of 9.3 kg of CO2 per kilogram of green hydrogen produced.
“Jules Hydrogen is more than a product; it’s a transformative solution that reflects Green CHP’s commitment to making green hydrogen production both affordable and scalable,” said Emily Norcross, founder, and CEO of Green CHP. “We envision a world where energy abundance, economic growth, and cleaner air converge to create lasting harmony between environmental sustainability and global prosperity. Jules Hydrogen will help us get there.”
The name Jules Hydrogen is a tribute to the visionary author Jules Verne, whose novel “The Mysterious Island” imagined a future powered by hydrogen as an inexhaustible source of heat and light. Green CHP’s mission to support a cleaner, more resilient energy system resonates with Verne’s foresight and exemplifies the company’s dedication to sustainable energy innovation.
Dynapower’s role in this partnership is critical. The company is a global leader in power conversion technology, specializing in solutions that enable clean energy initiatives across hydrogen production, battery storage, and beyond. Dynapower’s commitment to providing scalable, high-performance solutions that are integral to a sustainable future aligns perfectly with Green CHP’s vision.
Jules Hydrogen represents a major leap forward in the quest for clean and efficient hydrogen production. With its innovative design, strategic partnerships, and unwavering commitment to sustainability, Green CHP is poised to lead the way towards a greener, more prosperous future.
