Green Day offered a tantalizing glimpse of their upcoming ‘Saviors’ world tour with an intimate club show tại The Echoplex in Los Angeles on Thursday (April 18). The trio played both ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ in their entirety, replicating the set they will perform on their forthcoming stadium tour.
Their colossal 35-song set also showcased tracks from their recent album, ‘Saviors,’ which dropped in January. They surprised the audience with an encore of ‘Minority’ and debuted a new song titled ‘Fancy Sauce,’ which was not listed on the printed setlist.
Green Day kicked off the night with ‘Dookie’ from start to finish, followed by five songs from ‘Saviors’ – ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me,’ ‘Bobby Sox,’ ‘Look Ma, No Brains!”, ‘Dilemma,’ and ‘Saviors.’ They then launched into a full performance of ‘American Idiot.’
Green Day’s stadium tour will celebrate the landmark anniversaries of ‘Dookie’ (30 years) and ‘American Idiot’ (20 years). The European leg will commence at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, France on June 5, 2024. They will visit major cities like Madrid, Berlin, Milan, Paris, and more throughout June.
The UK and Ireland leg will commence on June 21 at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford, with subsequent dates in Glasgow, Dublin, and a monumental show at Wembley Stadium in London on June 29. Nothing But Thieves, The Hives, Donots, The Interrupters, and Maid Of Ace are slated to provide support on select dates.
The North American leg will commence at Nationals Park in Washington, DC on July 29, 2024, and will span cities like New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles, and many more, concluding at Petco Park in San Diego, California on September 28.
Earlier this month, Green Day performed ‘Basket Case’ with its original demo lyrics while receiving an award from Avril Lavigne. They surprised the audience by singing the lines: ‘They said this has been emotionless flight / Around each other intoxicating their minds / Dancing in the street under suburban lights / They stumbled to the ground without a hurt.’ Armstrong had previously admitted to rewriting these lyrics, deeming them ’embarrassingly bad.’
