This week, the company announced the delivery of five Type D BEAST all-electric school buses to two school districts in California: Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District and Terra Bella Union Elementary School District.
GreenPower’s commitment to providing sustainable and efficient transportation options is evident in its purpose-built BEAST, a 40-foot Type D school bus with seating for up to 90 students. The BEAST boasts a unified structure, featuring a seamlessly integrated aluminum body and a high-strength steel chassis. Its flat floor design ensures safe and easy movement for students, while the elevated floors keep them out of the crash zone. The BEAST also offers dual port charging capabilities with Level 2 and DC Fast Charging options, as well as the availability of wireless charging.
These deliveries highlight the growing trend of schools embracing electric transportation solutions. GreenPower’s all-electric school buses offer a number of benefits, including reduced emissions, improved air quality, and lower operating costs. The BEAST and GreenPower’s Type A Nano BEAST are eligible for California HVIP vouchers and grants under the California Zero-Emission School Bus and Infrastructure (ZESBI) program, further incentivizing the adoption of electric school buses. The ZESBI program, with a total of $500 million allocated for Fiscal Year 2023-24, provides funding for both ZE school buses and supporting infrastructure.
