In the wake of the tragic fire that claimed the lives of seven infants at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, bereaved fathers expressed their profound sorrow and demanded justice. Anjaan’s father, his voice trembling with emotion, recounted, “I had no knowledge of this incident. A friend informed me about an explosion at the baby care center. I called the hospital repeatedly, but no one responded. I had been depositing 10 to 15 thousand rupees daily for my baby’s treatment, and I had paid nearly 2 lakhs so far.”
Ritik, the father of a 9-day-old infant, shared his anguish, “I learned about the incident through news reports. My baby had oxygen-related issues and was admitted on May 20th. I have spent between 70,000 and 80,000 rupees, and the hospital must take responsibility.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has assured strict action against those responsible for any negligence. Meanwhile, Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Department, has indicated that the baby care center likely lacked a No-Objection Certificate (NOC). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex gratia payment of 2 lakhs each to the families of the deceased infants.
