Gujarat Police Arrest Another Partner in Rajkot Fire Tragedy

The Gujarat police have arrested Dhaval Thakkar, the proprietor of Dhaval Corporation, which operated the TRP game zone alongside five partners of Raceway Enterprises, in connection with the tragic fire in Rajkot that claimed 27 lives last week. The arrest was made in Abu Road, Rajasthan, and confirmed by Banaskantha Superintendent of Police Akshayraj Makwana.

Thakkar’s arrest brings the total number of people apprehended in connection with the fire to six. The other five, who were arrested earlier, are Hiren Vekariya, the owner of Raceway Enterprises, Dhrumil Vekariya, the manager of the TRP game zone, Jignesh Thakkar, the supervisor of the game zone, and two other employees of the game zone.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the Crystal Mall in Rajkot on May 23. The victims were trapped inside the game zone due to locked doors and inadequate safety measures. The tragedy has sparked outrage and demands for accountability.

The Gujarat government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident and has promised strict action against those responsible. The police are investigating the case and have registered an FIR against the arrested individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The arrest of Dhaval Thakkar is a significant development in the investigation and is expected to shed light on the circumstances leading to the fire and the responsibility of the individuals involved.
