A horrific incident has shaken the community of Dahod district in Gujarat, where a six-year-old girl student was brutally murdered by her school principal. The shocking discovery of the child’s body on Thursday in the school compound in Torani village led to the immediate arrest of the principal, Govind Nat.
Police investigation revealed a chilling tale of abuse and murder. According to the police, Nat had picked up the child from her home in the morning and, while driving her to school, attempted to sexually assault her. When the girl resisted, Nat smothered her, taking her life.
The victim’s mother confirmed that her daughter routinely went to school with Nat every day. However, when questioned about the incident, Nat claimed he dropped the girl off at school and left for work. But police, suspicious of his alibi, tracked his phone location and discovered discrepancies. His alibi was quickly dismantled, and under intense questioning, Nat eventually confessed to the heinous crime.
Senior police officer Rajdeep Singh Jhala detailed the horrifying events, stating that Nat had picked up the girl at 10:20 am. After murdering her, he kept the girl’s body in his car. It wasn’t until around 5 pm that he disposed of her body behind the school building, planting her school bag and shoes outside her classroom, making it appear as though she had been at school.
The incident sparked outrage, with the Gujarat Congress alleging that Nat, who was close to the ruling BJP and RSS, enjoyed political protection. Gujarat Congress spokesperson Parthivraj Kathvadiya pointed to photos of Nat with BJP leaders and his participation in RSS and VHP events, raising questions about his political connections. He condemned the incident, saying that it demonstrates the unsafe environment for girls under BJP rule and exposes the failings of the education sector.
In response to the allegations, Gujarat Education Minister Kuber Dindor assured swift action, stating that the government had worked closely with the police to apprehend Nat within 24 hours. He condemned the crime as a shameful act, emphasizing that the government has already suspended Nat and will ensure a fast-track trial to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the urgent need for addressing child safety and accountability in educational institutions. The police investigation is ongoing, and the community awaits justice for the young victim.
