Gunshot on I-93 in Braintree Grazes Driver

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a road rage incident on Interstate 93 in Braintree that led to a gunshot being fired and grazing the driver of a vehicle on the opposite side of the highway. According to state police, the incident occurred at around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday when an occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the road rage incident on I-93 north fired a gunshot. The bullet struck the Asplundh Electrical Testing truck on the southbound side of the highway, which was not involved in the altercation. The driver of the truck suffered an injury that state police described as ‘extremely minor’ and refused medical transport.

Video from Sky5 showed Massachusetts State Police troopers speaking with the victim, who lifted his shirt to reveal the graze wound. The truck had a bullet hole in the driver’s side door. State police shut down the section of I-93 south near Exit 6, which is the exit for Route 37, for a time Wednesday afternoon while officers searched for evidence. Traffic was allowed to move again on that part of I-93 a short time later, but the farthest left lane remained shut down for longer. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that the left lane on I-93 south near Exit 6 had reopened but warned drivers to expect delays.

State police said they are currently processing the vehicle that was struck by the bullet and interviewing witnesses. The incident is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police patrols, detectives, crime scene technicians, and ballistics experts.
