The iconic Gunstock Amateur Hill Climb is set to make its return to the Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire, as part of the historic Progressive Laconia Motorcycle Week®. Scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, the event will once again take place on the legendary 70-meter Torger Tokle Ski Jump, where amateur motorcyclists race to the top, thrilling the crowds.
A favorite since its first appearance, the hill climb has been a part of the rally, the oldest in America, since its early days. Originally held unofficially in 1917 at the Weirs on Tower Hill Road, the event moved to Gunstock (formerly known as Belknap Mountain Recreation Area) in 1938, where it was first officially recognized.
This year, event coordinators from Gunstock Mountain Resort and Ridge Runner Promotions are preparing for a turnout of over 7,000 spectators who will enjoy watching competitors in various classes, including Micro Mini and Senior, among others. Despite registration already being closed due to high demand, the event will feature three breaks for a motorcycle stunt show by Eastcoastin’ Enterprises, adding even more excitement with daring stunts and performances.
Bonnie MacPherson, the Marketing Director at Gunstock Mountain Resort, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the hill climb. “Last year we saw unprecedented attendance, and with the addition of performances and diverse food options, we’re excited to offer a full day of entertainment,” she said.
Tickets are $30 each for a day pass, with free entry for children aged 10 and under. Spectators can bring their own snacks and drinks in coolers up to 14 inches. The event will run from 9 AM to 5 PM, with gates opening at 8 AM, and will conclude with an awards ceremony.
Laconia Motorcycle Week® extends heartfelt thanks to its sponsors, including Progressive, AMSOIL, and American Iron Outfitters, and appreciates the substantial support from the State of New Hampshire.
