On a recent episode of ‘Gutfeld!’, host Greg Gutfeld and his panel unleashed a scathing critique of the left’s reaction to President-elect Trump’s appointment of Tom Homan, former ICE director, as the new border czar. The panel slammed what they perceive as the left’s hypocrisy surrounding immigration, particularly their use of the term ‘mass deportations.’
Gutfeld began by highlighting the chaos that has unfolded at the southern border over the past four years, citing the influx of illegal immigrants and the rise of crime linked to their presence. He then pointed out that Homan’s appointment is a direct response to this crisis and that the new border czar will prioritize deporting illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin.
Homan, known for his no-nonsense approach, made it clear that he doesn’t care about the opinions of those on the left. “Frankly, I don’t care what people think about me, especially on the left,” he stated during the segment. “I don’t care what anybody’s opinion is on illegal immigration. When you create a crisis this big, all these other bad things happen. I don’t care if you’re Republican or Democrat or Independent. Border security is national security.”
The ‘Gutfeld!’ panel echoed Homan’s sentiment, emphasizing the importance of securing the border. They pointed out the absurdity of the left’s characterization of the situation as ‘mass deportations,’ highlighting that the term is being used to incite fear and demonize the Trump administration’s policies.
Gutfeld argued that the left’s focus on the ‘mass’ aspect of deportations is a distraction tactic designed to mask their own failure to address the issue of illegal immigration. “They’ve done this before,” he said. “When the left created hate speech, it was to go after speech by leading with hate. When they came up with an assault rifle, it was to go after the gun while playing up the assault. And here it’s distracting from deportation by playing up the mass.”
He further highlighted the double standard employed by the left, pointing out that they never called former President Barack Obama a ‘fascist’ despite his high deportation numbers. “Somehow, it wasn’t mass deportations when Obama did it,” Gutfeld quipped. “You didn’t hear the cattle at ‘The View’ calling him a fascist.”
Gutfeld and his panel concluded by arguing that the left’s resistance to any meaningful border security measures stems from their ideological commitment to open borders. They maintained that any attempt to control the flow of illegal immigration, even if based on sound economic and security considerations, will be met with resistance from the left, who will resort to inflammatory rhetoric and demonization tactics.
“We realize nothing we do will be popular, and that’s freeing,” Gutfeld said. “AOC can cry. The media can call us fascists. We don’t give a f—. You were the guys that threw this kegger while mommy and daddy were on vacation. And now the adults are home and it’s time to clean up the mess that you made.”
