Hairy Bikers Fans in Tears as Si King Shares Update on Dave Myers’ Final Project

Hairy Bikers fans have been left in tears as Si King gives an update on what could be the final project with his partner Dave Myers, who passed away in February aged 66.

Si King received a wave of support after he promoted the Hairy Bikers’ latest book, ‘Fast and Fresh’, on Instagram. Posting on the account he once shared with his now-deceased closest friend, the 57-year-old looked visibly moved in a video where he announced the release of the cookbook that his buddy was “so proud of”.

Clutching the book, he said: “Hello everyone it’s Si here. Fast and Fresh from The Hairy Dieters is available tomorrow. Thank you if you pre-ordered, it’s hugely appreciated.”

Si went on to express his and Dave’s love for creating the book, mentioning: “It was a book that Dave and I really loved working on, so yeah there’s 80 delicious and easy recipes, easy as I know we’re all pushed for time these days. I don’t know how that happens but we just are aren’t we.”

He also gave fans a sneak peek into the variety of recipes featured and continued: “It’s a lovely book and we had the greatest of joy working on it together. Dave was very proud of it, so here it is.”

Grateful for the unwavering fan support, he added: “Thank you for your continued support” which “doesn’t go unnoticed”.

Wrapping up his heartfelt message, he said: “Lots of love and I hope you enjoy Fast and Fresh.”

The duo’s 383,000 followers didn’t hesitate to flood the comments with warm messages, with one saying: “You are such a lovely guy. Dave was lucky to have you in his life too!”

Another added: “Hope you’re holding up lad.”

A third added: “Thinking of you Si and feeling the love for Dave strong as ever!”

And a fourth said: “Sending you love Si could hear the sorrow in your voice. What a great legacy Dave leaves behind him. Take care.”

Their book was one of the final projects they collaborated on before Dave’s tragic passing at the age of 66 in February.

Earlier this week, Si gathered with Liliana, Dave’s widow, and their family and friends for a heartfelt tribute night to celebrate his life.

Si remarked about the touching night, posting photos of the gathering: “We had a wonderful evening reminiscing about our dear friend and the room was filled with love as you’d expect Dave would have loved it.”

A warm thank-you was extended to those who attended: “Thank you to all that could make it you made it very special.”

Dave lost his battle against cancer, something he bravely faced in 2022, which he publicly revealed during their Hairy Bikers – Agony Uncles podcast.

He expressed his reasons for keeping his cancer situation private to The Guardian, mentioning his aversion to people conducting internet searches or offering unsolicited advice, stating: “I don’t want to be judged yet”.

At that point, he was midway through his chemotherapy regime and had temporarily paused filming for their show, The Hairy Bikers Go West.
