Hamas Launches Rockets at Tel Aviv, Landing in Sea

Two long-range rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards central Israel on Tuesday, with both projectiles reportedly landing in the sea off the coast of Tel Aviv. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a statement, Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said the attack was in response to “Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people.” The group specified that they had targeted Tel Aviv and its suburbs with two M90 missiles.

Residents of the Tel Aviv area reported hearing a blast, but no sirens were sounded as the rockets were not heading towards populated areas. This attack marks the first time Hamas has fired rockets at Tel Aviv since late May.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack, stating that a rocket fired from Gaza landed in the sea off the coast of central Israel. The IDF also confirmed that a second rocket failed to cross the border.

The attack comes at a time of heightened tension between Israel and its adversaries. Israel is currently on high alert for potential retaliation from Iran and its proxies following the recent killings of senior figures from Hamas and Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group.
