Lewis Hamilton’s dissatisfaction with Mercedes’ poor form has subsided this season, as he prepares to join Ferrari in 2025.
According to team principal Toto Wolff, Hamilton’s contentment stems from his focus on the present without the burden of contemplating his future at Mercedes. Wolff noted that this relaxed demeanor is a departure from Hamilton’s usual demeanor when Mercedes underperforms.
Hamilton’s expectations for Mercedes are low after a disappointing start, with 19 points and a ninth-place standing. His teammate, George Russell, has marginally better results, holding seventh place with 33 points.
Ferrari, on the other hand, has had a strong start to 2024, securing podiums and a race win. They are also closer to Red Bull than Mercedes, which reportedly has the fifth-fastest car on the grid.
Despite announcing his move to Ferrari, Hamilton maintains his commitment to Mercedes for the remainder of the season. However, he has expressed frustration with the incessant Ferrari-related questions, which he believes may be driven by Mercedes’ lackluster performance.
Hamilton’s eagerness for the move to Ferrari could stem from the team’s strong start, offering hope for ending his winless streak.
As the 2024 season progresses, it remains uncertain whether Hamilton will break his winless spell. Mercedes’ struggles and Ferrari’s resurgence may influence Hamilton’s motivation and performance.
