Hampton Inn Fire Evacuates Over 100 in Lower Allen Township

Over one hundred guests were forced to evacuate their rooms early Wednesday morning due to a fire that broke out at the Hampton Inn in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County. The first-alarm fire, reported at around 2:47 a.m. on the 4900 block of Ritter Road, took approximately 45 minutes to an hour to bring under control, according to Cumberland County dispatch.

The evacuated residents were not allowed to return to their rooms after the fire was extinguished. Some sought shelter at nearby hotels or left the area. Firefighters assisted 125 guests in gathering their belongings and relocating to other hotels, as reported by WGAL.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. WGAL further reported that the fire was contained to a single room on the third floor, which was occupied by one person. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
