Hanuman Jayanti Celebrations in Delhi to Impact Traffic Flow

Due to Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on Tuesday, vehicular movement in various parts of Delhi is expected to be disrupted. The traffic flow will be particularly affected in central Delhi around Connaught Place (CP) and north Delhi around Kashmere Gate, as a large number of devotees are anticipated to visit the city’s prominent Hanuman temples. To ensure the safety and orderliness of the festivities, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued two advisories regarding traffic diversions and restrictions.

From 3 pm to 6 pm, a religious procession titled “Shobha Yatra” will commence from the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, potentially impacting traffic on adjacent roads. Additionally, from 5 pm, the “Sundarkand” segment from the Hindu epic Ramayana will be recited at the Yamuna Bazar Hanuman Temple, leading to traffic diversions from the left turn towards Hanuman Mandir at Y-Point Salimgarh by-pass, under Hanuman Setu, and Chatta Rail Chowk.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, several diversion points have been established. Traffic will be diverted from Outer Circle, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, GPO roundabout, Patel Chowk roundabout, and Windsor Place roundabout. Motorists are advised to avoid specific routes, such as the GPO roundabout to CP outer circle via Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Connaught Place outer circle, Panchkuian Road, Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg, Ashoka Road, and Janpath.

To minimize congestion, commuters are encouraged to use public transportation and avoid areas where events are taking place. Parking is permitted only in designated lots, and roadside parking is strongly discouraged. Individuals are urged to report any suspicious activity or individuals to the police.

In anticipation of the large gatherings and processions, the city police have heightened security measures, including the deployment of paramilitary forces in sensitive areas. Enhanced security arrangements have been implemented throughout the city, particularly in areas where religious events are scheduled to take place.
