Harbhajan Singh Advocates for Sanju Samson in T20 World Cup 2024 and as Future T20I Captain

Former spinner Harbhajan Singh has called for Sanju Samson to be picked for India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The tournament is set to take place in the West Indies and the United States.

Harbhajan made his comments after RR defeated Hardik Pandya’s MI by 9 wickets on Monday, April 22 in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He believes India should groom Samson as their future skipper in T20Is after Rohit Sharma moves out.

Harbhajan also lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal for making a strong comeback after a lean patch. Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 104 off 60 balls with the help of 9 fours and 7 sixes. On the back of his knock, RR chased down the target of 180 with 8 balls left in their innings.

Samson has been on top of his game in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer for RR this season, having racked up 314 runs from 8 games at an average of 62.80 and a strike-rate of 152.42 with 3 fifties and a top score of 82 not out.

As a skipper, Samson has not let his team down. The Royals are sitting pretty on top of the table with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.698 thanks to wins in 7 out of 8 matches.
