Hard Rock Cafe Penang has made a bold statement in the heart of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the grand opening of its first independent Rock Shop. The store, strategically located in the bustling city center, seamlessly blends modern design elements with the historic charm of Penang. It’s a unique fusion of rock ‘n’ roll spirit and the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The Rock Shop offers a diverse collection of merchandise, including stylish clothing, coveted accessories, and iconic pins. Every item reflects the essence of rock ‘n’ roll, while also paying homage to Penang’s UNESCO World Heritage status.
Michael Smeeton, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang, highlighted the store’s significance, stating, “Being the first standalone Rock Shop in a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a big deal for us. More than just merchandise, we offer an experience that resonates with the soul of rock n’ roll in Penang. The launch was graced by the presence of prominent personalities, including Yang Berhormat Wong Hon Wai, the Penang State Executive Council member for Tourism and Creative Economy. The event was also attended by Mr. Ooi Chok Yan, CEO of Penang Global Tourism, Mr. Jeffrey Chew Gim Eam, Chairman of Teluk Ewa Port in Langkawi, Datuk Tony Goh Nai Heng, Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang Chapter, and Dato Annie Chin Lim, President of the Penang Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
