James Harden and Ivica Zubac combined for 48 points and 27 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers cruised to a 121-92 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series.
Harden, who was acquired by the Clippers in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this season, was particularly impressive in his playoff debut for his new team. The eight-time All-Star scored 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. He also dished out eight assists and grabbed five rebounds.
Zubac, who has emerged as a key piece of the Clippers’ frontcourt this season, was a force in the paint against the Mavericks. The Croatian center scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, grabbed 15 rebounds, and blocked two shots.
The Clippers’ victory was also aided by strong performances from Paul George (21 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) and Norman Powell (20 points, 5 rebounds).
The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic, who finished with 33 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. Kyrie Irving added 31 points, but the rest of the Mavericks’ supporting cast struggled to provide consistent offense.
The Clippers will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Mavericks in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
