Hardik Pandya Axed, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh Replace in India’s T20 World Cup Playing XI by Virender Sehwag

The T20 World Cup 2024 is just around the corner, and the Indian selectors are expected to announce the team’s squad of 15 in the next week or so. There is a lot of speculation about who will make the cut, and former India opener Virender Sehwag has given his opinion on the matter.

Sehwag has left out Hardik Pandya from his Playing XI, opting instead for Shivam Dube or Rinku Singh at No. 6. The former India captain did not reveal the reason behind his decision, but it is likely due to Pandya’s poor form in the IPL 2024. Pandya has scored just 151 runs from eight innings and has taken only four wickets with the ball.

Dube, on the other hand, has been in excellent form for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024. The all-rounder has scored 311 runs from eight innings at an average of 51.83 and a strike rate of almost 170. He has also taken six wickets with the ball.

Rinku Singh has also been in good form for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024. The wicket-keeper batsman has scored 205 runs from eight innings at an average of 29.29 and a strike rate of 136.49.

Apart from Dube and Rinku Singh, Sehwag’s Playing XI also includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Sandeep Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.

The Indian team management will have a tough decision to make when selecting the final squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. There are a number of talented players in contention, and it will be interesting to see who makes the cut.
