Harry Enfield’s £11m Mansion Expansion Sparks Neighborhood Outrage

Comedian Harry Enfield’s plans to expand his £11 million Notting Hill mansion have drawn the ire of his neighbors, who have branded the proposals as “harmful” and “dangerous.” The planned extension includes a second dormer window in the front roof and changes to the rear dormer window, as well as an extended patio downstairs, an air-conditioning unit, railings, a trellis screen, metal rooflights, and bi-fold doors.

The Ladbroke Association, a group dedicated to preserving the area’s historical character, has criticized the proposed extension, particularly the rear dormer window, as “enormous and overbearing.” The association claims the plans would damage the conservation area and detract from the charm that attracts residents to the neighborhood.

Enfield’s neighbors are not the only ones to have clashed with celebrities over property plans. Robbie Williams has faced opposition from a neighbor over his proposal to trim trees blocking light into their building, while Gordon Ramsay’s relocation to Cornwall during the pandemic sparked backlash from locals. Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan also faced setbacks with their dream home in Essex, with the parish council initially objecting to the size and security measures of the property.

Despite the controversy surrounding Enfield’s mansion expansion, the comedian and his wife, Lucy Lyster, still own the five-storey family home, which they purchased for £6 million in 2008. Enfield has not yet commented on the objections to his plans.
