England captain Harry Kane has received the all-clear to remain with the national team for their upcoming Nations League fixtures. This comes after a worrying incident during Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt, where Kane collided with a player and was seen grimacing in pain. Bayern’s medical team attended to his right leg, and he was subsequently substituted in the second half of the 3-3 draw.
Following the game, Kane travelled directly to England, where he underwent an assessment by the Football Association’s medical staff. In a statement released by Bayern Munich, it was announced that Kane does not have a structural injury and will therefore remain with the England squad.
While Kane’s availability is good news for England, there are injury concerns surrounding other players. Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa suffered a hamstring injury early in their 0-0 draw with Manchester United. Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, who initially missed the Europa League game against Porto due to an injury, returned to play against Villa but was substituted in the 85th minute.
Morgan Gibbs-White, who plays for Nottingham Forest, sustained an injury during their 1-1 draw at Chelsea. The FA confirmed that none of these three players will be available for the Nations League games against Greece and Finland.
England will host Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, followed by a match against Finland three days later. Despite the injuries, England will be hoping to secure positive results in these important Nations League encounters.
