The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has announced the reopening of applications for the Haryana Police Constable Recruitment. This decision comes after the release of revised Common Eligibility Test (CET) results, which were ordered by the High Court. The Supreme Court recently rejected a petition seeking five bonus marks based on social and economic criteria, leading to the release of the revised CET results on June 25 without these bonus marks.
Candidates who successfully cleared the CET must now re-register for the Haryana Police Constable Recruitment. The application window is open from June 29 to July 8, 2024. Candidates who applied earlier, between February 20 and March 28, do not need to reapply. Their previously submitted socio-economic criteria claims will be removed. However, eligible candidates who wish to reapply can do so using the link provided by HSSC.
The recruitment process for 6,000 Constable (General Duty) positions in Haryana Police was initially announced in February. Out of these, 5,000 positions are designated for male candidates, while 1,000 are reserved for female candidates. The reservation breakdown for the 5,000 male positions is as follows: General category (Non-ESM ESP) – 1,800, SC – 900, BCA – 700, BCB – 400, EWS – 500, ESM-GEN – 350, ESM-SC – 100, ESM-BCA – 100, and ESM-BCB – 150.
To be eligible, candidates must have passed the 12th grade. They should also have studied either Hindi or Sanskrit in the 10th grade. The age limit for candidates is between 18 and 25 years old as of February 1, 2024. Due to delays in the recruitment process and the impact of COVID-19, the government has implemented a three-year age relaxation. This means that unreserved category candidates up to 28 years old can apply. For EWS, SC, and ST candidates, the age limit is 18 to 33 years. OBC candidates have a maximum age limit of 31 years.
Reserved category candidates from Haryana will receive age relaxation as per state rules. Candidates can apply online through the official HSSC recruitment portal.
The selection process involves a physical test and a Knowledge Test. Candidates are shortlisted for the physical test based on their CET scores. The Knowledge Test carries a weightage of 94.5%. Candidates holding an NCC certificate will receive an additional three marks. A weightage of 2.5 marks is assigned for socio-economic criteria. In the physical test, male candidates must run 2.5 km in 12 minutes, while female candidates must run 1 km in 6 minutes.
