The 24-year-old pacer became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match on Indian soil. Mahmud’s impressive figures of 5/83 were instrumental in dismissing India for 376 on the first day of the match.
This remarkable achievement comes just four Test matches into Mahmud’s career. On the second day, Mahmud completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Jasprit Bumrah. This is his second consecutive five-wicket haul in Test matches, following his impressive 5/43 against Pakistan in the second Test match last month in Rawalpindi.
