Heatwave Alert Issued for Several States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in these regions until May 5.

Orange Alert for Heavy Rainfall in North-East

The IMD has also issued an Orange alert for heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur. Strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are prevailing, bringing moisture to the region and increasing the chances of heavy rainfall.

The IMD has advised people in affected areas to take necessary precautions to stay safe from heat-related illnesses and heavy rainfall. Heatwave conditions can lead to dehydration, heat cramps, and heatstroke, while heavy rainfall can cause flooding, landslides, and other hazards.
