Heatwaves Claim Lives in India, Over 50 Dead

Heatwaves have wreaked havoc in India, claiming the lives of over 50 people since Thursday. Temperatures soared past 50 degrees Celsius in parts of North India, leading to deaths in several states.

Delhi

Delhi, which recorded a temperature of 49 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, reported its first heat-related death this week.

Odisha

In Odisha’s Rourkela region, four people died at a government hospital on Thursday due to heat-related ailments. Eight other persons were brought dead to the hospital.

Bihar

At least 32 people died in Bihar as the state witnessed intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius. Ten of the deceased were poll personnel.

Jharkhand

In Jharkhand’s Palamu district, four people, including a woman, died due to heatwave-related symptoms.

Madhya Pradesh

Two siblings reportedly died due to heatstroke in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, two people, including an elderly woman, died allegedly of health complications caused by heat stroke. A woman and her son were hospitalized in Sultanpur due to suspected heat stroke.

Rajasthan

A total of 12 people have so far died in Rajasthan due to the ongoing heat wave conditions. Newborn babies died at a Community Health Centre in the state, allegedly due to heat-related issues.

The heatwaves have led to concerns over health and safety, and authorities have urged people to take precautions to avoid heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
