The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across various regions of India over the next few days. The department predicts “heavy to very heavy” rainfall in Uttarakhand for the next two days. Additionally, very heavy rains are expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar today, July 6th. Northwest India and western parts of peninsular India are also likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 2-3 days.
The IMD has also forecasted heavy rainfall along the south Gujarat-Kerala coast due to a cyclonic circulation over the West-central Bay of Bengal off the south Andhra Pradesh coast. This circulation, situated at middle tropospheric levels, is expected to influence the weather patterns in the region.
The IMD’s predictions indicate a widespread pattern of rainfall across India, with some regions expecting particularly intense precipitation. This forecast highlights the need for preparedness and vigilance as heavy rainfall can lead to various challenges, including flooding, landslides, and disruptions in transportation and daily life.
