Heavy Rains Predicted in Multiple Indian States, Heatwave Continues in North

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across several states in India, issuing warnings for significant precipitation in Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and northeastern states. A red alert, the highest level warning, has been sounded for Gujarat today, with an orange alert issued for the remaining states. The IMD’s forecast indicates that the Southwest Monsoon is expected to advance further into the North Arabian Sea and Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next three days. The IMD’s weather report from June 24 predicts isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and Karnataka during the next five days. Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Tamil Nadu are expected to experience heavy rain on June 25 and 26. The IMD anticipates isolated heavy rainfall over Saurashtra & Kutch on June 25 and 26, continuing in the Gujarat Region from June 26 to June 28. Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are likely to see heavy rainfall on June 27 and 28, while North Interior Karnataka is predicted to experience heavy rain from June 25 to June 28. Coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected to receive heavy rainfall from June 25 to June 27. The weather bulletin indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh until June 28 and in Chhattisgarh over the next three days. Wet spells are likely in the north-eastern states of West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh until June 28, and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on June 27 and 28. In contrast to the heavy rainfall, the weather agency has issued heatwave alerts for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan on June 25. Heatwaves are likely to continue in Rajasthan for the next two days, with an expectation of abatement thereafter.
