Helen Maroulis Qualifies for Her Third Olympic Games

Helen Maroulis, the trailblazing American wrestler, has made history once again by becoming the first U.S. female wrestler to qualify for three Summer Games. On Saturday night at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center, Maroulis earned her spot on the American team for the Paris Olympics.

Competing in the 57-kilogram weight class, Maroulis showcased her dominance against former Olympian Jacarra Winchester in a best-of-three series. She pinned Winchester in the first match and followed up with a decisive 6-0 victory in the second, securing her spot in Paris.

Maroulis, who has previously won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, expressed her gratitude and disbelief at breaking another record. With a bloodied nose, she bowed to the roaring crowd before having her arm raised in triumph.

The Maryland native now trains with the powerhouse Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club in Arizona. Her remarkable achievement serves as an inspiration to young wrestlers and further cements her legacy as one of the greatest female wrestlers of all time.
