Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Uttarakhand, All Passengers Safe

A helicopter carrying seven people, including six pilgrims and the pilot, made an emergency landing in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath on Friday after developing a technical snag. The incident occurred around 7 am today, and the pilot quickly took a decision to land the chopper safely, averting a major mishap. All occupants are safe and sound. The helicopter had taken off from the Sirsi helipad for Kedarnath earlier in the morning. Citing preliminary reports, an official said the chopper developed a technical problem in its rear motor, prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing a few meters from the helipad at the Himalayan temple. The pilot’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvering prevented any injuries or fatalities. The pilgrims were able to continue their pilgrimage after the incident, and everyone is safe and accounted for. The Char Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage tour of four holy sites, has commenced this year, with around 26 lakh devotees registered to participate. The Uttarakhand government has extended the ban on VIP darshan until May 31 to ensure equal access for all devotees.
