In a testament to Finland’s culinary prowess, the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries Ceremony celebrated two new stars for Finnish restaurants. Helsinki took center stage, welcoming its first star within five months of opening for The ROOM by Kozeen Shiwan, lauded for its theatrical dining experience. Ruka’s Tapio also earned its first star, showcasing the country’s dedication to natural flavors and top-notch ingredients.
Nokka restaurant was recognized with the Green Star, highlighting Helsinki’s commitment to sustainable dining practices. The guide commended Nokka’s efforts in showcasing local, seasonal produce. This accolade adds to Finland’s growing number of Green Star establishments, totaling 36 across the Nordic region.
The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries 2024 also recognized exceptional industry professionals through Special Awards. Two Helsinki eateries, 305 and plein, received the Bib Gourmand award for offering high-quality, value-driven cuisine.
The ceremony, held at the historic Savoy Theatre, attracted international guests, including chefs, journalists, and influencers. The 12-course menu showcased Helsinki’s finest ingredients, reflecting the city’s dedication to promoting local gastronomy. Notably, the event’s catering policy excluded meat, showcasing a shift towards sustainable dining practices.
