Gunnar Henderson maintained his hot streak with three hits, including a home run, while Adley Rutschman also contributed two hits and an RBI to pave the way for the Orioles’ victory. Baltimore’s starting pitcher, Dean Kremer, pitched a solid 5 1/3 innings, allowing only two runs and three hits while striking out 10 batters – matching his career high.
On the Angels’ side, Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, and Zach Neto each went deep for their team. However, Los Angeles’ starter, Tyler Anderson, had a slightly less impressive outing, allowing two runs over five innings.
In the third inning, Henderson gave the Orioles an early 1-0 lead with a home run just over the right-field line. The lead was extended to 2-0 in the fifth inning when Henderson doubled and Rutschman drove him in with an RBI single.
The Orioles continued to pour it on in the sixth, with Jose Suarez taking over for Anderson. McCann drew a leadoff walk, and Henderson drove in two more runs with a single to center, making it 5-0. Another run came home on a double play, giving Baltimore a commanding 6-0 lead.
The Angels attempted a comeback, with Trout hitting his 10th homer of the season in the sixth inning to break up the shutout. Ward followed with a two-run shot off Jacob Webb, and Neto hit a solo homer in the eighth to narrow the gap to 6-4.
However, Craig Kimbrel shut the door on the Angels’ rally in the ninth inning, securing his seventh save and preserving the Orioles’ 6-5 victory.
