Hermès transported visitors to a world of luxury and craftsmanship with its home collection presented at the recent Milan Design Week. Inspired by the brand’s equestrian heritage, the collection showcased essential home objects that embody the timeless essence of Hermès.
Natural textures and materials took center stage, with brick, stone, slate, wood, and compacted earth forming the foundation of the collection. These raw elements celebrated the brand’s equestrian roots, which were further highlighted through the use of jockey silk jersey adorned with vibrant geometric motifs, serving as inspiration for leather goods and textiles.
The collection encompassed a diverse range of pieces, including buckets, baskets, and table centerpieces woven in leather, each meticulously crafted by hand. Modernist lounge chairs and the Diapason d’Hermès, a two-piece leather seat mounted on a hammered aluminum frame, exuded elegance and functionality.
Equestrian-inspired lamps drew from the design notes of lunge reins, riding crops, and show-jumping poles, resulting in slender stems and slub linen shades complemented by leather piping and patinated bronze-style bases. Bedspreads crafted in silk and cotton twill featured tone-on-tone topstitching and cashmere reverses, showcasing the brand’s mastery of textiles. Tartan-style bed blankets and throws added a touch of cozy sophistication.
Hermès’ home collection at Milan Design Week 2024 was a testament to the brand’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, offering a glimpse into the world of luxury and timeless design.
