Hezbollah Launches Drone Attack on Israeli Targets

Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group based in Lebanon, launched a drone attack on Israeli military bases in the vicinity of the northern city of Acre on Tuesday. This constitutes the most significant incursion by Hezbollah into Israeli airspace since the commencement of the Gaza conflict. Hezbollah asserted that the attack was undertaken as a reprisal for an Israeli airstrike on its members in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the fatalities of two Hezbollah operatives. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) refuted any knowledge of an attack on its facilities but acknowledged the interception of two “aerial targets” off the northern coast of Israel earlier on Tuesday. Hezbollah disseminated a satellite image allegedly depicting the location of the strike, positioned between Acre and Nahariyya in northern Israel and symbolized by a flash encircled in red. Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF confirmed the deaths of two Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon. Subsequently, Hezbollah verified the demise of one of its members, Hussein Azkoul, but refrained from providing further details. A separate Israeli airstrike conducted overnight from Monday to Tuesday reportedly eliminated a fighter belonging to Hezbollah’s elite unit, Radwan Forces, although Hezbollah has not corroborated this claim.
