High-End Jewellers Embrace the Allure of Fragrance with Exquisite Collections

In the rarified realm of high perfumery, the world’s most esteemed jewellers have found inspiration, translating legendary fragrances into dazzling collections of jewellery. The N°5 Collection from Chanel, unveiled to mark the centennial of the iconic perfume, epitomises this trend. Featuring 123 graphic jewellery pieces adorned with diamonds, onyx, pearls, yellow sapphires, and rock crystal, the collection reimagines the fragrance’s floral notes, its lingering sillage, the bottle’s stopper, and the number five itself. A fine jewellery line titled N°5 followed shortly after, showcasing pendants, rings, necklaces, and earrings sculpted with Gabrielle Chanel’s lucky number and a stylised drop of perfume in white diamonds and gold.

Stepping beyond the realm of scent recreation, jewellers have also found inspiration in the vessels that house these fragrances. Los Angeles-based Jacquie Aiche’s bottle-inspired pendants combine 14k yellow gold and diamond settings, highlighting colourful designs that can hold the wearer’s preferred aromatherapy oil. Crafted from spiritual stones such as creativity-boosting lapis lazuli and healing turquoise, these pendants offer a unique way to carry beloved scents.

Elsa Peretti’s early designs for Tiffany & Co. included a rounded bottle pendant in polished gold and sterling silver, reflecting her minimalist aesthetic. Inspired by the gardenias carried by young girls in 1960s Portofino, Peretti created a simple, architectural bottle that could hold a flower. Some pendants featured removable stoppers of hand-carved turquoise, making these designs ideal for carrying a cherished scent.

More recently, renowned fashion designer Victoria Beckham has introduced her own take on the perfume bottle pendant. Crafted in Italy from gold brushed brass, the necklace is designed to hold her signature fragrances Portofino ’97, Suite 302, and San Isidro Drive. Featuring an accessible price point, the piece is complete with a bespoke dropper to prevent spills during transfer.
