High School Baseball: No-Hitters and More in Local Games

Erik Puodziunas of Notre Dame had a no-hitter for six innings before giving up a double in the seventh. Notre Dame won 6-0. In other games, Vinny Van der Wel had a grand slam and four RBIs for Chaminade in a 15-2 win over St. Francis. Bryce Rainer struck out three in an inning of relief for Harvard-Westlake in a 4-2 win over Bishop Alemany. Augie Lopez hit his fifth home run of the year for Loyola in an 11-4 win over Sierra Canyon. JP Cardenas made a game-ending catch to preserve Agoura’s win over Calabasas. Dylan Volantis threw a one-hitter for Marmonte League champion Westlake in a 1-0 win over Oaks Christian. Angel Cervantes struck out 11 for Warren in a 2-1 win over Bishop Amat. Boston Bateman struck out 14 and gave up no hits in six innings for Camarillo in a 10-4 win over Simi Valley. JT Lovato had two RBIs for Damien in a 6-4 win over Etiwanda. Mike DeFranesca gave up one run in five innings for Trabuco Hills in a 3-2 win over Mission Viejo. La Salle’s Adrian Hernandez struck out eight in six innings in a 3-2 loss to Bishop Montgomery. Sam Burgess struck out six in six innings for Corona in a 5-1 win over Roosevelt. Anthony Murphy and Josh Springer hit home runs for Corona. Chris Ramirez had three hits for Corona Santiago in a 5-1 win over Norco.
