Get ready to delve into the world of cannabis with “High Science,” a new docuseries set to premiere in late summer or early fall. The show will air on Outlaw TV and Bravo Multinational’s TVee NOW, offering viewers an in-depth look at the burgeoning cannabis industry.
“High Science” follows Rich and Rick Batenburg, a father-son venture capital team, as they invest in a variety of cannabis businesses across the United States. From farms and retail shops to cultivation sites, the series provides a comprehensive overview of the industry’s diverse landscape.
The docuseries is co-created by Emmy Award-winning producer David McKillop, known for shows like “Duck Dynasty” and “Storage Wars,” and entrepreneur Ed Leclere. McKillop emphasizes the focus on personal stories, stating, “It’s all people-driven. All of this series is based around the Batenburgs, who are just fantastic.” Leclere, who has personal experience with cannabis as a medical alternative, describes the Batenburgs as ideal hosts, highlighting their dynamic and authenticity.
“High Science” features a range of stories and individuals within the cannabis industry. Viewers will meet Moe Asnani and Chip Boyden, founders of Ilava, an established Arizona dispensary and grow house. Another segment focuses on Greg Krzanowski, known as “Chem Dog,” a recognized expert in cannabis strains. The series also explores the work of Brendan and Kevin McKernan of Medicinal Genomics, who have transitioned from the Human Genome Project to studying cannabis strains for medical use. Additionally, Meg Sanders and Erik Williams of Canna Provisions will be featured, showcasing their contributions to the cannabis retail sector.
Leclere emphasizes the series’ aim to challenge existing misconceptions about cannabis, particularly the federal government’s historical stance. He states, “The federal government has sent so much BS to the public about cannabis.” He shares a moving story of a veteran with PTSD whose condition improved with cannabis, highlighting the profound impact of the plant on individuals’ lives.
With its focus on authenticity and personal stories, “High Science” promises to offer a fresh and informative perspective on the cannabis industry. McKillop emphasizes the series’ commitment to genuine representation, stating, “You know it’s true. This isn’t made up. This isn’t written in a script. This is true reality television.”
