Hilton is expanding its footprint in the United Kingdom with the arrival of its DoubleTree brand in Northern Ireland. The hotel giant has announced plans to rebrand the existing City Hotel in Londonderry, transforming it into the DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry. The 158-room hotel is slated to reopen in 2025, following a comprehensive refurbishment.
The newly branded DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry will boast a wide range of amenities for guests, including a welcoming bar and restaurant, a spacious ballroom perfect for events, seven well-equipped meeting spaces to cater to business travelers, convenient onsite parking, and a rejuvenating wellness club complete with a swimming pool.
The hotel’s prime location on the west bank of the River Foyle places it in the heart of the city. Guests will have easy access to the Quayside Shopping Centre, offering a diverse range of retail options, and are just a 15-minute walk from Derry-Londonderry railway station, facilitating convenient travel connections.
While DoubleTree is a globally recognized brand with over 680 locations spanning 56 countries and territories, the first UK DoubleTree hotel was introduced in 2008. The brand has seen significant growth in recent years, as exemplified by the recent opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City, adjacent to Bramall Lane, home ground of Sheffield United Football Club.
This latest expansion into Northern Ireland further solidifies Hilton’s commitment to providing travelers with exceptional hospitality experiences across the UK. The arrival of the DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry is expected to contribute to the growth of the city’s tourism sector and enhance the overall visitor experience.
