Himachal Court Sets May 8 for Hearing on Chief Parliamentary Secretary Appointment

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has concluded three days of arguments in a petition challenging the appointment of chief parliamentary secretaries. The court has set May 8 as the next date for the hearing. Senior advocate Maninder Singh from the Supreme Court concluded his arguments on Monday, while the advocate general submitted that the state has initiated the process of engaging senior advocates to defend the case on their behalf. The bench observed that the state had sufficient time to engage counsel to defend the state. In a separate development, the office of the chief electoral officer has forwarded a complaint regarding alleged derogatory remarks against BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut on social media platforms to the Election Commission of India. The CEO has termed the Facebook post a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Veteran BJP leader and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has expressed concerns about Congress’ poll manifesto, stating that it indicates that the assets of common people may not be secure. Dhumal emphasized the Prime Minister’s focus on inclusive development.
