Hitachi Energy, a global leader in transformer technologies, has announced a significant investment of $1.5 billion to expand its global transformer manufacturing capacity by 2027. This strategic investment comes in addition to the $3 billion the company has already invested in electrifying the energy system and driving the energy transition.
The expanded capacity will enable Hitachi Energy to meet the growing demand for transformers, which are essential components in the transmission and distribution of electricity. The company’s transformers are used in various industries, including renewable energy, power generation, transportation, and distribution networks.
As part of its investment plan, Hitachi Energy is investing around $180 million in a new transformer factory in the Vaasa region, Finland. This new facility will complement Hitachi Energy’s existing transformer manufacturing facilities in Italy, Brazil, India, and China.
The investment in global manufacturing capacity is part of Hitachi Energy’s broader growth strategy, which includes the recently announced expansion in Bad Honnef, Germany. The company is committed to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers in the energy sector.
