Two people were injured on Wednesday in Kolkata after a hoarding fell on them in front of the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium. This incident occurred just moments before West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was scheduled to arrive for an award ceremony.
Police confirmed the incident, stating that it took place in the afternoon near the auditorium’s entrance in the Alipore area. The injured individuals were promptly transported to the nearby SSKM Hospital, where their condition was reported as critical.
A senior police officer told the news agency PTI that they are currently investigating whether the incident was an accident or a security lapse. Following the incident, several other hoardings near the auditorium were removed.
Chief Minister Banerjee was scheduled to participate in an award function organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, marking the 44th death anniversary of renowned Indian film actor Uttam Kumar. The event was held at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium.
