Holcim US, a leading provider of aggregates, has earned recognition for its dedication to safety, community engagement, and environmental responsibility. The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), the prominent voice of the aggregates sector, awarded seven of Holcim US’s aggregates operations for their exemplary programs in these key areas. The awards were announced during NSSGA’s annual Legislative & Policy Forum in Washington, D.C.
Michael LeMonds, VP, ESG and US Chief Sustainability Officer, highlighted the significance of these accolades: “Our aggregates operations are not only leaders in providing essential materials for regional construction but also in demonstrating responsible corporate citizenship. We’re immensely proud of our site leadership and local employees who embody best-in-class safety, community relations, and environmental excellence, setting a positive example for our industry peers and other businesses in the communities we serve.”
Holcim US achieved a remarkable double win with two sites being named Gold Award winners:
*
Bridgeton Sand Plant near St. Louis, Missouri:
Recognized for safety excellence, the plant received its first-ever Gold Award for its unwavering commitment to workplace safety. This award acknowledges the plant’s consistently strong safety performance, evidenced by its track record of consecutive periods without any MSHA-reportable injuries.*
Marblehead Quarry in Ohio:
The Marblehead Quarry received a Gold Award for its outstanding community relations, particularly for a program that brought middle and high school educators and administrators to the quarry to engage in meaningful discussions about curriculum, career guidance, and the importance of the aggregates industry.Beyond these Gold Award winners, five additional Holcim US aggregates received recognition for their excellence in community relations and environmental stewardship:
*
Rockville Quarry (Maryland):

Michael Johnson, president and CEO of NSSGA, expressed his congratulations to the award-winning companies: “We applaud our outstanding member companies for their achievements. Their commitment to excellence elevates not only their businesses but the entire industry.”
It’s worth noting that facilities receiving the Gold category designation automatically maintain this recognition for a period of five years. Holcim US has enjoyed continued success in this area, having received a Gold Award for community relations excellence for the second year in a row, following last year’s award for the Peabody Quarry in Massachusetts. Furthermore, three other Holcim US sites – Battle Creek Sand & Gravel Pit (Michigan), Fox River Quarry (Illinois), and Lockport Quarry (New York) – are currently recognized as Gold winners for environmental excellence.
