The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), a prominent annual trade show, kicked off on November 5th in Shanghai and will run for six days. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has made its presence felt at every CIIE since its inception, marking its seventh consecutive year of enthusiastic participation. This year, HKTB is taking a bold approach to highlight Hong Kong’s dynamic appeal as a global metropolis, showcasing the city’s rich tourism experiences, major events, and its leadership in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) tourism brand alongside other cities in the region.
Mr. Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, emphasized the significance of the CIIE, stating, “The CIIE is an important stage for Hong Kong to showcase its unique metropolitan image and glamourous tourism appeal to the Mainland markets and the rest of the world. Through our stimulating pavilion, HKTB seizes the opportunity of CIIE to reach out to participants from all over the world and promote Hong Kong’s newest tourism experiences. This will be essential for solidifying Hong Kong’s status as a world-class premier tourism destination and hub for GBA tourism, so that we can maximize our edge of being closely connected to the world, and hence attract more visitors to the city for multi-destination travel.”
Under the theme “Hong Kong, Your Next Destination,” the HKTB pavilion is a captivating spectacle. It features an impressive LED screen ring with 3D holographic projections, immersing visitors in the vibrancy of Hong Kong’s exciting events, cultural attractions, sports, and tourism experiences. The pavilion also incorporates elements representing Hong Kong’s beloved giant pandas, adding a touch of charm and national pride. Visitors can engage in interactive activities, such as a personality-based travel itinerary quiz that recommends tailored travel plans in Hong Kong based on MBTI types. This personalized approach ensures that each visitor receives a unique and relevant travel suggestion, adding to the overall experience.
The pavilion also includes a dedicated GBA tourism zone, a testament to Hong Kong’s key role in connecting the “9+2” cities of the Greater Bay Area. This initiative is strategically designed to position Hong Kong as a central hub for multi-destination journeys within the GBA, further strengthening the region’s appeal as a unified and competitive tourism destination. The GBA zone showcases the diverse tourism offerings of the entire region, highlighting the potential for seamless multi-city travel experiences.
