Get ready for a month of spooktacular fun in Hong Kong, as the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) unveils a series of enchanting events for residents and visitors alike. This Halloween, the city will be transformed into a magical wonderland, with a vibrant mix of festive activities, captivating light shows, and cultural celebrations.
Halloween Celebrations in Hong Kong
The highlight of the festivities is the “Hong Kong Halloween” activation, a nightly extravaganza culminating on October 31st. At the heart of the celebration is the Hong Kong Space Museum, where a mesmerizing 3D Celestial Projections light show will illuminate the night sky. This captivating display features five unique Halloween characters with a distinctly Hong Kong twist, adding a local touch to the spooky season. For an extra dose of excitement, guests may even encounter surprise flash mob performances throughout the event.
Adding to the Halloween spirit, a ghostly tram will traverse Hong Kong Island, offering a unique and eerie ride through the city. For those with a sweet tooth, a pumpkin-themed ice cream truck will delight visitors in Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok on October 25th and 26th, spreading smiles and the sweet scent of autumn. The celebrations will reach their peak on Halloween night with special events like an ice cream giveaway and a festive party performance aboard the tram.
Art Basel Partnership and Beyond
The HKTB isn’t just about Halloween fun. They are also showcasing Hong Kong’s thriving art scene through a successful partnership with Art Basel. The HKTB’s debut event at Art Basel Paris, which took place from October 16th to 20th, brought a taste of Hong Kong to the Grand Palais. Visitors experienced the city’s vibrant culture through the beloved Cha Chaan Teng café experience, indulging in iconic Hong Kong dishes while admiring a stunning art installation by Hong Kong-based artist Trevor Yeung.
The HKTB also hosted a networking cocktail reception, bringing together curators, collectors, and gallerists to discuss the dynamic relationship between art and tourism. Special recognition was given to Doryun Chong, Artistic Director and Chief Curator of M+, for leading thought-provoking discussions that bridge Hong Kong with major global art hubs like Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.
Hong Kong: A Blend of Art, Culture, and Culinary Delights
The HKTB is committed to showcasing Hong Kong’s rich blend of art and culinary heritage on the world stage, welcoming more art lovers to explore the city’s vibrant cultural scene.
