The foldable phone market is heating up, and Honor is ready to make its mark. While Samsung currently holds a dominant position, especially with the recent release of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Honor is poised to enter the competition with its own innovative foldable device.
Honor is set to unveil its latest foldable phone, the Honor Magic V3, at IFA Berlin in September. This announcement follows a teaser page on Honor’s website showcasing the device alongside other anticipated products, including the Honor MagicPad2 and Honor MagicBook Art 14. The Honor Magic V3, previously launched in China in July as a successor to the Honor Magic V2, is expected to make its global debut at the event.
The Magic V3 has been touted as a strong contender in the global foldable phone market. It boasts a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, the same chip found in Samsung’s latest smartphones. Moreover, the device features an impressive camera system, including a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP 3.5x periscope camera, and a 40MP ultrawide camera.
Design-wise, the Honor Magic V3 stands out for its incredibly thin profile, measuring just 9.2mm, and its lightweight design, weighing in at 226 grams. This makes it thinner and lighter than both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (12.1mm, 239 grams) and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (10.5mm, 257 grams).
However, a potential barrier for the Magic V3’s success could be its global pricing. The Magic V2 was launched at 1,700 British pounds/2,000 euros, suggesting a similarly steep price tag for the Magic V3. Foldable phones, in general, are known for their high price points. Samsung’s latest model, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, starts at 1,799 British pounds/2,200 euros, indicating that Honor’s latest offering will likely be priced competitively within this range.
Honor is set to announce its new products for the European market on Thursday, September 5, just ahead of IFA Berlin, which kicks off on September 6.
